This week is full of fun times and minor holidays. Today is Pi Day. Tomorrow is the Ides of March (beware). Thursday is Saint Patrick’s Day. But these minor holidays do not encompass the fact that this week is also full of poetry fun.
On Wednesday, we’ve got a poetry reading by Star Coulbrooke and Michael Sowder at the Salt Lake City Library, which is awesome because the library is enormous and prestigious and such. They’ll be there at 7 pm in the Special Collections Room on the 4th floor. Check out this flyer: City Art March2016 for more information. And if you’re going to be in the city this week, you should go. My personal endorsement is that Michael Sowder is a wonderful poet who somewhat reminds me of Rumi, and Star is Logan’s Poet Laureate and about eighteen other things. And they are some of the nicest people I know.
On Thursday, hurry back up to Logan and meet in Caffe Ibis at 5:20 for Star’s poetry walkabout, the first one in the new year. It’s finally going to be warm enough to enjoy the outdoors! If you go you will read poetry, write poetry, walk around, and feel cultured and happy. Our flyer (March 17 Walkabout) has more information so you can adequately prepare yourself.
Enjoy your week of minor holidays and poetry fun!
